Diplomatic career

Mr. Shelley Salehin joined the Bangladesh Foreign Service in 2005. Before his Sydney appointment, he was the first Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner for South India, based in Chennai. He has also served at the Bangladesh Embassy in Ankara and the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in Geneva.

Ministry experience

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka, Mr. Salehin served as Director for Personnel, Policy and Organization and worked across United Nations and human rights, international organizations, the Americas, East Asia and Pacific, and administration.

Education and expertise

Mr. Salehin holds an MBBS, a Master of Population Sciences from the University of Dhaka, and an MA in International Affairs and Diplomacy from the Australian National University. His expertise includes peace and security, disarmament and non-proliferation, human rights, development cooperation, global health, governance, and human-resources and financial management.
