Documents covered
The Consulate may attest marriage and educational certificates, commercial papers and other eligible records. Power of Attorney documents follow the separate Power of Attorney Act process and are not handled as ordinary attestations.
Prior authentication
Documents originating in Bangladesh must first be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka. Australian documents must first be authenticated by DFAT. Personal appearance is generally unnecessary when DFAT has authenticated the document.
Requirements
Submit the signed application form, recent passport photograph, original document and copy, valid Bangladesh passport or NID with copies, Australian photo ID with copies, and payment receipt. Postal applications also require a prepaid trackable return envelope.
Fees
Published fees are AUD 50 per copy for certificate attestation. Affidavit or company-document attestation is AUD 75 for the first page and AUD 4 for each subsequent page.
