Birth Registration

Register an eligible Bangladeshi national's overseas birth through the designated consular registrar.

Step 1 — Apply online

Lodge the application through the Bangladesh Birth and Death Registration Information System, save the tracking number, print the application summary, and sign the required declarations.

Adult applicants

Common requirements include the cover letter, signed online summary, recent photograph, original Bangladesh passport and copy, SSC/HSC certificate where applicable, evidence of parents' names, permanent-address evidence, and payment receipt.

Children born overseas

Submit the child's original overseas birth certificate and copy, recent photograph, parents' Bangladesh passport/NID/birth certificate, permanent-address evidence, signed online summary, cover letter, and payment receipt. Non-English or non-Australian records may require translation and authentication.

Submission and fee

The published fee is AUD 2. Applications may be submitted in person by appointment or by post with all required copies and a prepaid trackable return envelope. Original documents must accompany copies unless the copies are certified by a Justice of the Peace.

If the portal cannot print the summary, email consular.sydney@mofa.gov.bd with the application number, applicant name, parents' names and date of birth to request a PDF copy.
