Who can apply in Sydney?
Bangladeshi-origin applicants living in NSW or Queensland may apply. The Sydney Consulate does not issue or reissue Machine Readable Passports; MRP reissue enquiries are handled by the High Commission in Canberra.
Where do I apply?
Start the application at epassport.gov.bd. The appointment shown by that portal is not a valid Sydney biometric appointment. Email the required papers to the Consulate and use the booking link supplied after document review.
Which primary identity document is required?
Use an accurate NID/Smart Card, or a 17-digit online-verifiable Bangladesh birth certificate if you have never held an NID. Names, parents' names and date of birth must match the primary document; errors must be corrected before applying.
Do I have to attend?
Yes. Every e-Passport application requires in-person biometric enrolment, including fingerprints and iris capture.
When should I apply?
Applicants with an existing passport valid for more than twelve months are generally discouraged from applying unless there is an immediate need. Processing varies because security, identity and police verification may be required.
How do I track and collect it?
Track the application through the e-Passport application-status service. Wait for the Consulate's email before collection, then bring the delivery slip and previous passport between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm on a working day. A representative also needs an authorization letter.
What if my passport was lost?
Provide an original police report that clearly records the lost passport number together with the other application documents.
