Eligibility and appointment
Applicants living in NSW and Queensland may apply in Sydney. This service is appointment-only and all executants must normally appear and sign before the consular officer. Power of Attorney is not permissible for divorce.
Required documents
Bring the completed cover form; the original unsigned Power of Attorney; valid Bangladesh passport, NID or 17-digit birth certificate for executants and executees; Australian photo ID for executants; two recent photographs of each party; and payment evidence.
Property of a deceased person
Children or legal heirs must provide a succession certificate attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangladesh when the authority concerns a deceased person's property.
After consular attestation
The endorsed Power of Attorney must be presented to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangladesh for counter-attestation within three months of signing at the Consulate.
Fee
The published fee is AUD 125 for the first five pages of each document set and AUD 9 for each subsequent page. Card/EFTPOS and EFT are available under the published payment conditions.
