Must I apply in person?
Usually no. An authorised agent may submit an application in exceptional circumstances with an authorization letter. The consular officer may still require the applicant to attend an interview.
Is the process fully online?
No. The form may be completed at visa.gov.bd, but the original passport and supporting documents must still be submitted in person or by post to a Bangladesh mission.
How long does processing take?
Processing varies by visa category and may take longer when government clearance is required. Applicants are encouraged to apply at least three weeks before planned travel.
Can the category be changed after arrival?
No. Select the correct visa category before travelling because it cannot be converted after entry into Bangladesh.
Are fees refundable?
No. Visa processing fees are non-refundable if the application is denied, withdrawn or otherwise unsuccessful.
Can the passport be returned by post?
Yes, where permitted. Include a self-addressed prepaid express return envelope with signature on delivery. The Consulate is not responsible for documents lost in transit.
